Description
Use IAQ 3000 to fill small imperfections and pinholes in masonry block and porous concrete, before a top coating. Its flexibility and durability are the best available for a block filler, far superior to cementitious and PVA type formulations. IAQ 3000 contains mineral type fillers and fine mineral aggregates that provide a uniform surface capable of receiving all types of finish coats.
How to Use
SURFACE PREPARATION
Surfaces to be coated must be free of dust, mildew, mold, dirt, grease, loose paint, oil, glue size, calcimine, wax, soap, efflorescence and other surface contamination. Nibs and mortar joints should be “bricked down” to remove all protrusions and mortar splatters. Clean mold stained surfaces with IAQ Advanced Peroxide Cleaner, or use an EPA registered antimicrobial disinfectant cleaner such as IAQ 2000, IAQ 2500, ShockWave or ShockWave RTU.
APPLICATION TOOLS
Apply IAQ 3000 with brush or roller. Spray application is not recommended because the mineral content is abrasive to spray equipment.
- Brush: Nylon or polyester synthetic bristle
- Roller: Synthetic fiber 3/8” nap or longer
PRODUCT APPLICATION
IAQ 3000 is supplied ready to use, but can be thinned sparingly with water for proper application consistency if necessary. IAQ 3000 should be applied full body, vertically and cross-hatched horizontally to remove all roller ridges and unevenness in the block filler. Brushing should be done with a short stubby brush, working the material well into any pinholes, pores and voids. Material should be applied in horizontal sections with block mortar lines serving as a guide. Spray application is not recommended because the silica content is abrasive to spray equipment.
COVERAGE
200 sq. ft. per gallon – average (varies with porosity of block).
DRYING TIME
- @ 70°F 50% R.H
- To Touch – 4-8 hours
- Recoat – 24 hours
CLEANUP
Clean tools and drippings with warm soapy water before IAQ 3000 dries. Dispose of all waste according to all existing local, state and federal regulations.
PRECAUTIONS
Store in a dry place at temperatures between 40°F (4.5°C) and 90°F (32°C). Stir thoroughly. Do not mix with any other coatings, solvents or colors in oil. Do not apply IAQ 3000 when air or surface temperature is below 50°F or when drying conditions are poor. Keep from freezing. IAQ 3000 will reduce seepage, but is not intended for use as a waterproofer. For waterproofing applications, use IAQ 9000 Mold-Resistant Waterproofer. IAQ 3000 should not be used as a finish coat or be allowed to weather for more than 60 days without being finish coated. When applying with a sprayer, wear a NIOSH approved respirator with any R, P, N or HE filter. Use adequate ventilation during application. This coating is not intended for use as a mold-resistant coating.
